Fall Registration - If your child(ren) are planning to return to lessons in August 2010, you'll need to reserve your space now. Registration in the past was secured by paying an additional $50 registration fee the prior May. There is a change to this policy. Instead of an additional $50 per student, the registration fee will be replaced by pre-paying for 2 August lessons (non-refundable). In otherwords, lessons begin at the start of the academic year (mid August), but no remits are due until September, since you have pre-paid August lessons during the prior May. This will save you $50 & also alleviate all the additional expenses which come with the start of school. Your first remit will be due the first week of each month beginning in September.
Siblings of current students who may wish to start in August 2010, will also need to register by the end of May to begin in August.
Fall registration is $75 per student, due on or before the final Studio Class date, Friday May 14, 2010.
Tuition Rates - 2010-11 academic year (36 total lessons) is $1,350 - Monthly remits will be $150 per month. August $75 (non-refundable prepaid functions as reservation during prior May. Remit schedule will run from August through May.
REMIT SCHEDULE:
May $75 prepaid, non-refundable registration & remit for August lessons.
September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April $150
(May 2011 = $75 for remaining May lessons + TBD pre-paid registration amount for 2 August lessons.)
STUDIO CLASS - May 2010 Studio Class will culminate the academic lesson schedule. May Studio class will be at the home studio (not the music store!), Friday May 14, 2010. All students will experience a combined one hour studio class beginning at 5:00 pm. (In otherwords, come to the house & there is only ONE session which starts at 5:00 pm.), All students should bring the music of the piece they are playing. Please keep all other books at home. No assignment notebook is needed. Dress is extremely casual; wear what ever you wore to school that day.
SUMMER LESSONS - Summer lesson times are scheduled individually, when convenient for all.
Summer schedule is flexibile and runs mid-May through mid August, by appointment. Do not assume the lesson time will remain the same after May 14th final studio class. Email Mrs. McIntyre with lesson time requests. Times may vary from week to week to fit schedueles. Think flexibility :-)
Summer lessons are paid for as you attend each lesson. $45 per 45 minute lessons. In the past some students have asked to pre-pay for a set number of lessons. This year, let's just pay as you come. Often lessons get cancelled at the last minute, which means we all have difficulty keeping track of how many lessons remain.
SUMMER CAMPS - There is a summer camp experience for everyone & every age. Check out these possibilities: Summer Music Camps. Past students have partipated in Butler University Piano Camp (all ages), University of Indianapolis Piano Camp (all ages), University of Indianapolis Chamber Music Camp (early advanced high school), Butler University Music Leadership (high school), Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Interlochen Arts Camp, Ball State University Woodwind Camp, Carmel Public Schools Band/Orchestra camps, Carmel Conservatory Chamber Music Camp (middle school & high school).
Also, we can custom craft our own one-on-one 'camp' at our own studio. This is a great time to work on improvisation, popular music, & music technology fun! Just ask Mrs. McIntyre! Summer is not a time we stop our activities, but redirect & embellish music making.
SUMMER Music Fun! - Check AroundINDY.com when you are looking for fun things to do! My friend & colleague from University of Indianapolis has devoted tremendous energy into this project. FANTASTIC SITE! Many activities are great for families & free. Attending the art gallery? Symphony? A movie? Discuss the music within integrated arts. Going on a nature walk? What do you hear? FUN! :-)
iPOD - An extremely valuable tool for every student, any age!!! Let me know if you need any suggestions about selecting an iPod & how to easily add music to it for your child. Ask to borrow CD recordings of your child's current repertoire. Music is an aural art form. So, when they listen to recordings of their repertoire or more advanced repertoire, you get the best value for your lessons.
COMMUNICATION - With increased mobility & ease of communication, our world is also experiencing a splintering of communications. Not everyone communicates in the same way. however, I'll try & accommodate each of you (some text, some email, some phone). Here is my contact info:
Email: LolaMcIntyre@gmail.com (always good!)
Text or phone: 317-502-1273 (You may experience a delay from me with these methods)
Social Media: Follow, friend, fan & join networks! For timely concerns, keep in mind: eventhough I read all communications almost immediately, returning a reply is slow since my phone is not set up for FB 'private' message replies. Email is most efficient, even if your message just says call me & you give me your cell number. Cell numbers are quickly autodialed when you include area code & phone number with hyphens or no spaces. 317-502-1273
